When my daughter first showed signs of hating herself, I got out photoshop. We went and found an image of her choosing, of a woman. I spent the next two hours showing her just how easy it was to alter this woman. I changed her hair, whitened her teeth, made her thinner. I erased her blemishes and even made her taller while my daughter sat there aghast. At the end of it she loudly said - ” THAT’S NOT FAIR!”
I told her that damn near every image she saw of people in magazines, on television, etc, was altered like this, and that she should never compare herself to that, because even supermodels don’t look like supermodels.
I wish I could do that for every child. I wish it was a mandatory class in school.
I AM SHOWING THIS TO EVERYONE
I SAW THIS IN CLASS BEFORE. THE TEACHER WAS ALL LIKE ”please, never compare yourself to people you see in magazines. They’re always altered. It’s as easy as that.” I ALMOST STOOD UP AND YELLED ”AMEN, MISS. AMEN.”
I first saw this at Bible Camp several years ago in a seminar on beauty or insecurity or something.
It still stuns me that it hasn’t circulated as much as I thought it should/would.
The Zelda 64
I bought a 64, took it apart, painted the shell and wired in 9 LEDs (5 blue, 4 white)
(And painted the controller too （ ´∀｀） )
This is however, a birthday gift for someone special. So I have to part with it tomorrow D:
Ahh so pretty! Do want!
The evolution of Minako Aino: Sailor Venus, Princess Venus, Minako Aino, Sailor V, Super Sailor Venus, and Eternal Sailor Venus.
I’m pretty jealous of people who have great handwriting, especially those who can do calligraphy! I should really try and find out if there’s a course in Adelaide. But until then, here’s a tutorial on how to fake it til you can make it! Haha! If that seems to be too much work too, there’s also a free font download too.
I have some very expensive lamps in a very similar style to the after version of this lamp - if I knew I could get the same look with coke bottles and masking tape I probably could have saved myself a few hundred dollars! Ok, so maybe it’s not as long-wearing as the ‘real’ version, but you must admit, for the cost of a couple of soda bottles and masking tape, it’s a pretty amazing makeover!
